Last year's high-dollar geo-domain sales -- among them VisitBerlin.com, $230,000; VisitStockholm.com, $175,000; VisitCuba.com, $100,000 plus $11,000 in acquirer's stock; and VisitPanamaCityBeach.com, $28,000 --raise on very big question: are these high five- and even six-figure prices for geo-domains realistic in terms of the value they can generate for owners?

Yes -- if you understand that their main value is not in the revenue that the domains can generate through traffic and clicks but rather in the hotel bookings, restaurant and entertainment revenue and taxes that result from the real world tourist activity promoted through these domains. 5. Tourism Organizations & Domain Names from ElliotsBlog.com

(by Rob Sequin) I have been an active buyer, seller and broker of geodomains and travel related domains so when I saw the Exhibitor List from the recent New York Travel Show, I was curious to see the domain names that tourism organizations were using to promote their regions.

I was generally impressed to learn that most of these organizations appreciate the value of a good domain name. Some use pure geo domains, others use .travel and some use a prefix such as visit or go so most are using decent to high quality domain names.

Here is a list of tourism related organizations that recently exhibited at the New York Travel Show:

WANTED SECTION

Please send me your wanted criteria and I will post here no charge or obligation.

1. I have a buyer for pure UK geo .com only town and city names. NO geo + keyword domains for this buyer.

2. I personally am actively buying good Cuba domains with age. Must be .com unless the domain is valuable otherwise. Probably not interested in any .net, .biz or .us extension. However, .org, .info and .tv are interesting to me. Absolutely no .mobi or .co domains please.
